Our Clean Living Story

It started on our apartment stovetop

In 2022, we began making cleaner products by hand on the stovetop of our little apartment, pouring small batches ourselves after realizing how much the everyday candles we loved were affecting how we felt at home. What started as a hobby for our own space soon caught the attention of family and friends.

We had always dreamed of our own candle business but never felt ready to take the leap. After some unexpected medical complications, God reminded us how precious each day is, and how much He can do with so little. So we took the leap of faith, and Simply Modern Scents was born.

Today every product is still hand-poured and handcrafted in small batches in Cincinnati, Ohio. Our line has grown to include coconut-soy wax candles with crackling wood wicks, wax melts, reed diffusers, car scents, laundry detergent, hand soaps, and our electric and whole-home diffuser systems, but the heart behind it has never changed.

We choose every raw material with intention. Coconut-soy wax is a renewable, cleaner, slower-burning alternative to paraffin, and we pair it with premium scent oils free from the additives you do not want in your home. Clean ingredients, refined scent, and a home that finally feels good to breathe in.
