Diffuser Setup & Install Guides
Everything you need to get your Simply Modern Scents diffuser up and running. Find your model below.
SMS1000
Our flagship whole-home unit. Connects directly to your HVAC system so fragrance travels through your existing ductwork to every room.
What you'll need
- Drill and bit set
- Ductwork tape
- Mounting hardware (included)
- SMS1000 unit and oil bottle
- Scent Master Pro app on your phone
Plan on 30 to 45 minutes for a typical install.
Installation steps
- Pick your location. Mount on or near the supply plenum of your air handler, somewhere you can reach easily. You'll be back here for oil changes, so don't bury it.
- Mark and drill. Mark your hole on the supply duct and drill it to fit the tubing. Clear the metal shavings as you go.
- Seal the opening. Seal around the tubing with ductwork tape. A tight seal keeps conditioned air where it belongs.
- Mount the unit. Secure it with the included hardware and keep it level — the oil bottle threads in from below.
- Connect the tubing. Keep the run short and avoid sags. Low spots collect oil and cause buildup — this is the most common DIY issue we see.
- Load the oil bottle. Thread it in and hand tighten. Snug is enough.
- Power up and pair. Plug in, open Scent Master Pro, follow the Bluetooth pairing prompts.
- Set your schedule. Start low. Most homes need far less than expected, and it's easier to turn up than to air out a house.
SMS150
Standalone unit for larger single rooms and small commercial spaces. No ductwork, no tools — fill the bottle, plug in, pair the app.
SMS60
Compact standalone unit for bedrooms, offices, bathrooms, and other smaller spaces. Same simple setup — fill, plug in, pair.
Car Diffuser
Compact unit for sedans, SUVs, and trucks.
Common Issues
- Won't pair. Confirm Bluetooth is on, you're within a few feet of the unit, and no other phone is currently connected to it.
- Weak or no scent. Check the blower is running continuously, the bottle isn't empty, and the schedule is actually active in the app. Lighter scents also need more output to carry the same way — increase the spray frequency and shorten the pause time between sprays.
- Oil pooling in the tubing. Almost always a sag in the line or a blower on AUTO. Fix both.
- Too strong. Reduce the spray duty cycle rather than shortening run times — you'll get more even coverage.
- Give it a day. Scent builds gradually through a house. Don't crank settings on day one.
